Recent studies have shown that Asians are under-represented in Executive Management positions & Boardrooms across the country. For example, in Silicon Valley, Asians make up more than a third of the workforce while representing about 6 percent of board members and about 10 percent of corporate officers of the Bay Area's 25 largest companies (Research: Buck Gee and Wes Hom). The numbers are more dramatic when compared to Fortune 500 companies. So, is there a corporate glass ceiling for Asian managers at mid to late stage companies? Are there cultural issues at play here and if so, what are the positives that should be accentuated and what are the skills that need to be acquired & emphasized? The panel will be comprised of senior executives, industry leaders, and HR managers at various leading firms in the Silicon Valley. This panel will be introduced by Buck Gee, who will present his recent study on Asian Executive management trends. The panelists will provide experiential commentary and advice, and engage with the audience in a lively dialog, thus adding to its richness. The audience will consist of senior executives of Asian background in mid to late stage companies.
